ELVER “MONO” CASTELLANOS

Climber, mountaineer, rescue specialist

Elver “Mono” Castellanos is a certified rock climbing and mountaineering instructor-guide, from the Search and Rescue (SARS) International school, AIDER International Canada and the Colombian High Mountain Medicine Training Center (CEMMA).
He also has a degree in physical education, recreation and sport.
He was initially trained with the processes and courses of the SENA and the Fernando Gonzales-Rubio Foundation, until he became part of the international search and rescue group.
He is always looking to expand his knowledge in rescue and first aid in remote areas, to provide confidence and better service to practitioners who venture to the rocks and high mountains.
His focus on contributing to the Colombian mountain community also translates into a great dedication as a route bolter. In the last fifteen years, he has equipped or re-equipped hundreds of climbing routes throughout Colombia, with the creation of climbing parks such as San Roque in Guican de la Sierra and Cucaita, the re-equipping of La Mojarra and big walls in Cocuy.
He also dedicates himself to the creation of via ferratas and waterfall climbing areas.
