MERA

Specialists in the organisation of mountaineering and rock climbing expeditions based in Suesca (Cundinamarca – Colombia).

Adventure with safety : As SAR and AIDER Canada certified rescuers, we also offer vertical rescue courses and search and rescue services throughout Colombia and abroad.

In addition, with more than 15 years of experience in bolting and re-equipping climbing routes, we accompany you in all your bolting, via ferrata and canyoning projects.

Who are we?

MERA Expedition was founded by rock climber and mountaineer Elver “Mono” Castellanos. Throughout his more than 10 years of work as a guide, climber and rescuer in Colombia, he has surrounded himself with a wide network of local mountain professionals throughout the whole of Colombia.
All the guides we work with are certified in first aid, rock climbing and high mountain climbing.

Our philosophy

We work with and for communities, by offering free training and opening climbing crags in remote areas, thus promoting the practice of the sport in Colombia. For example, we have created non-profit climbing initiation groups for children in Colombian villages. In Suesca, we organize free first aid and first responder courses for members of the local climbing community to make the rock a safer place.
As guides and mountain professionals, our role is also to set an example of respect and protection of nature in all our activities.
